Graduating seniors connect with employers at first-ever After the Tassel career fair

High school seniors at JCPS didn’t have to look far for employers eager to hire them. Last week, thousands of students walked directly from their graduation rehearsal at Freedom Hall to the After the Tassel career fair being held next door at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer (pictured above) stopped by the event on Tuesday to speak to participants, including the Kentucky Career Center team who were key partners in the event.

More than 80 employers participated in this new 3-day career fair, which was led by KentuckianaWorks, Greater Louisville Inc, and the Kentucky Career Center, in partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools. Industry leaders like Norton Healthcare, LG&E, Ford, GE Appliances, Texas Roadhouse and UPS were all in attendance.

Community organizations Evolve502, SummerWorks, and The Spot: Young Adult Opportunity Campus were also on hand to help students get connected to educational and career resources.

Some of the graduates have filled out our application on the spot, which is great...The energy over the last few days has been amazing.
