Southern Indiana Works and KentuckianaWorks partner on new drive-thru job seeker event

On September 24, 2024, career services staff in the Southern Indiana Works workforce region held their first ever Career Drive-Thru. The event was designed with and for rural job seekers who were ready to make a career change, but ran into challenges kickstarting the process. In just 20 minutes, job seekers were able to learn about workforce services available to them, pick up some swag, and take home a free dinner…all without leaving their cars.

The Scott County event marked the ending of the year-long Human-Centered Workforce Services project for KentuckianaWorks and Southern Indiana Works. With funding from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, the two workforce boards investigated opportunities to better serve job seekers who may not see how established career services locations or processes help them meet their job search needs. Through a series of customer discovery interviews, design workshops, and training on human centered design (HCD) topics, staff from the two boards built an understanding of how to amplify the value of our services and improve accessibility. Stay tuned for similar events in Indiana and Kentucky in the near future.
